The torso, which was missing its head, legs and arms, was found in Brooklyn on March 3, stuffed into a plastic shopping bag and then placed in a shopping cart, as we previously reported.

Harvey Marcelin, 83, was arrested on March 4 and charged with concealing a human corpse, WABC reported.

Investigators said the torso belonged to a 68-year-old woman living in an LGBTQ+ shelter in Brooklyn, WNBC reported.

According to the criminal complaint in the case, police saw the victim on CCTV entering Marcelin’s home on February 27, but was then never seen on video leaving, WPIX reported. Surveillance video also showed Marcelin leaving his home with the bag the victim had taken and leaving it in a nearby corner.

Police said that while executing a search warrant at Marcelin’s home, they found a human head, along with electric saws, WABC reported.

Marcelin spent more than 50 years behind bars for two previous convictions, one for murder for which he was in prison from 1963 to 1964, and the other for manslaughter in 1986, WPIX reported. Marcelin was paroled in 2019. Both of those cases involved the deaths of ex-girlfriends, according to WABC.

On Monday, a human leg was found in a tire a few blocks from where the torso was found, as we previously reported. Police have not linked the two cases at this time.
