(NEXSTAR) – Move over, Krampus. Woody the talking Christmas tree has arrived.

A mall in Canada has resurrected its gigantic, human-faced Christmas tree after a 15-year hiatus, bringing nostalgic twists to Nova Scotians and giving just about everyone goosebumps.

“If you haven’t seen Woody the talking Christmas tree yet – be forewarned – you can’t see it,” said a social media user shortly after the tree debuts in 2021 in late November. “It’s nightmare fuel, but you can’t turn away from it.”

Woody, which was once an annual Mic Mac Mall hangout in the ’80s and’ 90s, was pulled in 2006 by the mall’s then-owners, who wanted to give the decor “a new direction,” according to Tamitha Oakley, General Manager of Mic Mac Mall. In light of the pandemic, however, the mall’s new operators recently decided to wake up the ‘sleeping’ Woody to spread joy to local children.

“Woody the Talking Christmas Tree was a beloved holiday character at the mall, but Woody was a very sleepy tree, and the kids would need to wake him up every year,” Oakley told Nexstar of the lore. somewhat elaborate from Woody.

Oakley added that Woody “retired to the North Pole” in 2006 (he was in dire need of renovations and upgrades), but remained a “beloved character in the city and province – and in every province. of the Maritimes ”.

Once the new owner took over the Mic Mac Mall, Woody’s resurrection was “the first thing on their list,” Oakley said.

“It’s been a tough few years with COVID,” she said. “They wanted to bring lightness in the dark moments, to give a little cheerfulness to the children.”

But for all the joy that Woody is spreading, there seems to be a significant amount of distrust of Woody and his inexplicable human face, with a few jokes that he is. “The scariest Christmas tree in Canada”, where he needs “Child sacrifices”.

“[It’s] It’s been 3 days since I saw Woody the talking Christmas tree and I am still haunted by it“said a Twitter user.

In the weeks following his resurrection, Woody also gained a considerable number of admirers both near and far. Some went to the mall to chat Gallbladder operation with Woody (for real), while others recreated his likeness for their masterpieces, their manicure, and their Cakes. Jimmy Fallon also praised Woody on a recent show, comparing him to the “red light, green light” robot from “Squid Game”.

“A lot of people contacted the media, and a lot of people laughed at it,” Oakley said. “We are happy to support this and to laugh with it. But our message is that we brought it back to bring some light to the children. Just to do something wonderful this year.

“I mean, it’s a talking tree. People called it “scary”. But we certainly see a lot more people worshiping Woody than thinking he’s scary.
